PM Modi Launches Gyan Bharatam Portal for Manuscript Digitisation

On 12 September 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘Gyan Bharatam Portal’, a dedicated digital platform for manuscript digitisation, preservation, and public access. The launch took place during the International Conference on Gyan Bharatam at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The Prime Minister also visited an exhibition organised by the Union Ministry of Culture on this occasion.

Objectives of the Gyan Bharatam Initiative

The initiative has been developed as a national platform to:

  • Identify, document, and conserve manuscripts across India.
  • Digitise manuscripts to ensure long-term preservation.
  • Create a National Digital Repository for centralised access.
  • Provide AI-driven tools and digital platforms to enhance public accessibility and research.
