PM Modi Pays Official Working Visit to Japan for 15th Annual Summit

At the invitation of the Prime Minister of Japan, Mr. Ishiba Shigeru, Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, paid an Official Working Visit to Japan on 29–30 August 2025 for the 15th India–Japan Annual Summit.

Joint Vision for the Next Decade

The two leaders adopted a Joint Vision for the Next Decade, charting whole-of-nation efforts across eight pillars:

  • Economy
  • Economic Security
  • Mobility
  • Environment
  • Technology and Innovation
  • Health
  • People-to-People Ties
  • State–Prefecture Engagement

Boosting Defense and Security Cooperation

A Joint Declaration on Security Cooperation was adopted, elevating India–Japan defense and security partnership to the next level, keeping in view evolving geopolitical realities and security challenges in the region.

Human Resource Exchange and Cooperation

Both sides adopted an Action Plan for India–Japan Human Resource Exchange and Cooperation, with a focus on capacity building, skill development, and youth engagement.

India–Japan Economic Security Initiative

The two Prime Ministers announced the launch of the India–Japan Economic Security Initiative to enhance bilateral cooperation in securing and strengthening supply chains in critical goods and sectors.

Japan–India AI Cooperation Initiative

A landmark Japan–India AI Cooperation Initiative was unveiled to:

  • Deepen bilateral and multilateral cooperation on Artificial Intelligence, including Large Language Models (LLMs).
  • Establish industry–academia platforms for knowledge exchange.
  • Support joint research projects.
  • Facilitate the development and operation of data centers in India.
