PM Modi Unveils 77-Ft Statue of Lord Rama in South Goa

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 28 November unveiled a 77-foot bronze statue of Lord Rama at the Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math in Canacona, South Goa. The event marked the commencement of the Sardha Panchashatamanotsava, the 550th-year celebration of the Math.

• Ramayana Theme Park, Postal Stamp & Commemorative Coin Released: During the ceremony, PM Modi also:

  • Inaugurated the Ramayana Theme Park developed by the Math
  • Released a special postal stamp
  • Unveiled a commemorative coin dedicated to the historic occasion

• Roadshow and Religious Events in Udupi, Karnataka: Earlier in the day, PM Modi held a roadshow in Udupi, Karnataka, after participating in the Laksha Kantha Gita Parayana programme at the Sri Krishna Matha.

• Inauguration of Suvarna Teertha Mantapa & Kanaka Kavacha: The Prime Minister inaugurated the Suvarna Teertha Mantapa, located in front of the Krishna sanctum, and dedicated the Kanaka Kavacha (golden cover) for the sacred Kananaka Kindi, associated with saint Kanakadasa’s divine vision.

• Mass Recital of Bhagavad Gita Shlokas: Addressing a large gathering in Udupi, PM Modi recited shlokas from the Bhagavad Gita along with over one lakh participants, including students, monks, and scholars.

• PM Highlights Udupi’s Importance in BJP’s Evolution: The Prime Minister described Udupi as a significant centre in the historical journey of the Jana Sangh and the BJP, and paid tribute to the contributions of former Karnataka MLA V. S. Acharya.
