President Approves 131 Padma Awards for 2026

For the year 2026, the President of India has approved the conferment of 131 Padma Awards, including two duo cases (each duo counted as one award). The approved list comprises:

  • 5 Padma Vibhushan
  • 13 Padma Bhushan
  • 113 Padma Shri

Diversity of Awardees

  • 19 awardees are women
  • 6 awardees belong to the category of Foreigners / NRI / PIO / OCI
  • 16 awards are being conferred posthumously

About the Padma Awards
The Padma Awards are among the highest civilian honours of India and are conferred in three categories:

  • Padma Vibhushan – for exceptional and distinguished service
  • Padma Bhushan – for distinguished service of high order
  • Padma Shri – for distinguished service in any field

Announcement and Conferment
Padma Awards are announced annually on Republic Day. The actual conferment takes place at ceremonial functions at Rashtrapati Bhavan, usually held during March–April each year, where the awards are presented by the President of India.
