Project Veer Gatha 5.0 Sees Record Student Participation

Project Veer Gatha 5.0, a joint initiative of the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Education under the Republic Day celebrations, has recorded its highest-ever participation since inception. Around 1.92 crore students from nearly 1.90 lakh schools across the country took part in the fifth edition.

About Project Veer Gatha
Launched in 2021 under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Project Veer Gatha aims to honour gallantry awardees of the Armed Forces and instil patriotism and national pride among school students through creative expression.

Super-Winners Selected
This year, 100 national-level “Super-Winners” have been selected:

  • 25 students from the Preparatory stage (Classes 3–5)
  • 25 students from the Middle stage (Classes 6–8)
  • 50 students from the Secondary stage (Classes 9–12)

Each Super-Winner will receive a cash prize of ₹10,000 and will attend the Republic Day Parade 2026 at Kartavya Path as a special guest.

New Categories Introduced in 5.0
Launched on 8 September 2025, the fifth edition introduced new creative categories to enhance student engagement, including:

  • Short video formats for videography
  • Anchoring
  • Reporting
  • Storytelling

Growing Reach Over the Years
Participation in Project Veer Gatha has grown exponentially:

  • Veer Gatha 1.0 (2021): ~8 lakh students
  • Veer Gatha 3.0: ~1.36 crore students
  • Veer Gatha 4.0: ~1.76 crore students
  • Veer Gatha 5.0: ~1.92 crore students
