Raisina Science Diplomacy Initiative (RSDI)

The Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (OPSA) to the Government of India and the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) have announced a strategic partnership to launch the inaugural Raisina Science Diplomacy Initiative (RSDI) 2026.

Objective of the Initiative

The initiative aims to:

  • Facilitate high-level deliberations among scientists, diplomats, policymakers, and industry leaders
  • Generate actionable insights at the intersection of science, technology, and diplomacy
  • Strengthen science diplomacy frameworks in a rapidly evolving global order

  • Leadership-level plenary sessions involving senior global stakeholders
  • Focused expert roundtables addressing:
    • Emerging science and technology challenges
    • Strategic and ethical dimensions of science diplomacy
    • Contemporary global governance questions

Global South Focus

The insights from the initiative are expected to:

  • Enrich global science diplomacy discourse
  • Provide value-added perspectives from India and the Global South
  • Contribute meaningfully to international policy conversations on science and technology
