Sahitya Akademi Awards 2025

Sahitya Akademi on March 16, 2026, announced the winners of the Sahitya Akademi Awards 2025, recognising outstanding literary works across 24 Indian languages.

The awards are conferred annually following a rigorous selection process, which includes recommendations by distinguished jury members for each language and approval by the Akademi’s competent authority.

Notable Awardees

Among the prominent winners this year are:

  • Navtej Sarna for the English novel Crimson Spring
  • Mamta Kalia for the Hindi memoir Jeete Jee Allahabad
  • Prasun Bandyopadhyay for Shrestha Kabita in Bengali;
  • Yogesh Vaidya for Bhattkhadaki in Gujarati;
  • Amresh Nugadoni for Dada Seerisu Tande in Kannada;
  • N. Prabhakaran for Maayamanushyar in Malayalam;
  • Raju Baviskar for Kalyanilya Resha in Marathi;
  • Nandini Sidha Reddy for Animesha in Telugu;
  • Jinder for Safety Kit in Punjabi; and
  • Jitender Kumar Soni for Bharkhama in Rajasthani.

    Award Details

    Each award carries:

    • A casket containing an engraved copper plaque
    • A shawl
    • A cash prize of ₹1 lakh
