Samriddh Gram Phygital Services Pilot Initiative

Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia recently inaugurated a Samriddhi Kendra, an integrated Phygital (physical + digital) service centre, at Umri village in Guna district of Madhya Pradesh. The centre has been established under the Samriddh Gram Phygital Services Pilot Initiative of the Department of Telecommunications.

The initiative aims to utilise high-speed broadband connectivity developed under BharatNet to provide citizen-centric services in rural areas. These services include healthcare, education, agricultural support, financial services, and e-governance.

Connectivity at the centre is being provided through Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) broadband and public Wi-Fi enabled under the PM‑WANI framework.

The Samriddh Gram initiative seeks to transform rural broadband connectivity into a platform for integrated digital service delivery. Through this system, farmers can access real-time crop insights, students can use modern digital learning tools, and villagers can receive faster healthcare through tele-consultations with doctors based in Delhi and other states.
