Sikkim Opens Cho La & Dok La for Tourists under ‘Bharat Ranbhoomi Darshan’

On 15 December 2025, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang officially declared Cho La and Dok La, two strategically important border locations, open for tourism under the ‘Bharat Ranbhoomi Darshan’ initiative.

About Cho La

  • A strategic mountain pass in the Sikkim–Tibet border region
  • Gained prominence during the 1967 Indo–China skirmishes
  • Holds significant defence and historical importance

About Dok La

  • Located near the India–China–Bhutan trijunction
  • Came into global focus during the 2017 Doklam standoff
  • Strategically critical for border security and regional stability

Bharat Ranbhoomi Darshan Initiative
