About the Standing Committee of NBWL
The Standing Committee of the National Board for Wildlife is a statutory body constituted under the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972. It plays a crucial role in wildlife governance and environmental decision-making in the country.

Mandate and Functions
The SC-NBWL is mandated to:

  • Advise the Government on matters related to the conservation and protection of wildlife and forests
  • Examine and guide proposals involving development activities in and around protected areas
  • Ensure that development is undertaken in a balanced, sustainable, and ecologically responsible manner
