Standing Committee of the National Board for Wildlife (SC-NBWL)

The Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change chaired the 89th meeting of the Standing Committee of the National Board for Wildlife (SC-NBWL) in Bhopal.

During the meeting, the Standing Committee examined several proposals related to wildlife conservation and development projects situated in and around Protected Areas, Wildlife Sanctuaries, Tiger Reserves, and Eco-Sensitive Zones. The proposals were evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.

Officials stated that the projects were assessed with due consideration to ecological sensitivity, statutory compliance requirements, and prescribed mitigation measures to ensure minimal impact on wildlife habitats.

The Standing Committee of the National Board for Wildlife is a statutory body constituted under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972. It is mandated to advise the government on matters concerning conservation and protection of wildlife and forests, while ensuring that development activities near protected areas are undertaken in a sustainable and balanced manner.
