Thiruvalluvar Day

Tamil Nadu celebrated Thiruvalluvar Day on January 15, 2021 in honour of the Saint Poet Thiruvalluvar. Thiruvalluvar day is celebrated on the 2nd day of the Thai month.

• Valluvar’s epic work, Thirukkural, which consists of 1330 kurals or couplets is translated into many international and Indian languages.

• Russian Writer Leo Tolstoy was greatly inspired by Thirukkural and so was Mahatma Gandhi.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi bowed to the venerable Saint Thiruvalluvar on Thiruvalluvar Day.

• The Prime Minister urged more youngsters across India to read the Kural, a compilation of 1330 Couplets penned down by Thiruvalluvar 2000 Years ago.
