Time Names ‘Architects of AI’ as 2025 Person of the Year

Time magazine selected “Architects of AI” as its Person of the Year for 2025, recognizing the profound societal impact of artificial intelligence. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, X owner Elon Musk, and AI pioneer Fei-Fei Li appear on one of the two covers. The choice highlights AI’s transformation across media, politics, and the workforce in exciting yet sometimes alarming ways.

AI’s Dominant Influence in 2025

The magazine described 2025 as the year AI’s full potential emerged, with no turning back from intelligent machines reshaping daily life. Time likened AI to the most significant tool in great-power competition since nuclear weapons. Editor-in-chief Sam Jacobs noted its role in driving the economy, geopolitics, and human interaction.

Tradition of Recognizing Impact

Time’s Person of the Year tradition began in 1927. It honors influential figures from celebrities to politicians. US President Donald Trump received the title in 2024 after his reelection and previously in 2016.
