Tribal Aptitude, Life Skills and Self-Esteem Hub (TALASH)

The National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS), an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, has partnered with UNICEF India to launch TALASH (Tribal Aptitude, Life Skills and Self-Esteem Hub). This national program is designed to foster the all-round development of students in Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs).

  • Objective: TALASH aims to enhance both the educational outcomes and personal growth of tribal students throughout India.
  • Meaning of the Name: The name “TALASH” itself signifies a focused search for self-awareness, life skills, and career clarity among tribal youth.
  • Pioneering Initiative: This program is the first of its kind in India to specifically target and cater to the holistic development needs of tribal students.
  • Broad Reach: It’s expected to benefit over 1,38,336 students currently enrolled in EMRSs across 28 States and 8 Union Territories, establishing itself as a significant national movement for inclusive education.
