UIDAI Unveils Aadhaar Mascot ‘Udai’

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has unveiled a new resident-facing Aadhaar mascot named ‘Udai’, aimed at simplifying communication and enhancing public understanding of Aadhaar-related services.

Role of the Mascot
According to UIDAI, Udai will act as a relatable communication companion, helping citizens easily navigate key aspects of Aadhaar such as:

  • Aadhaar updates
  • Authentication processes
  • Offline verification
  • Selective sharing of information
  • Technology upgrades
  • Responsible and safe use of Aadhaar

The initiative is part of UIDAI’s efforts to make Aadhaar services more accessible and user-friendly.

Selected Through National Competition
The mascot and its name were chosen through open national-level competitions conducted on the MyGov platform.

  • UIDAI received 875 entries from students, professionals, and designers across the country.
  • A multi-tier evaluation process was followed to finalise the winning design and name.

Part of Broader Outreach Strategy
The launch of Udai aligns with UIDAI’s broader push to:

  • Improve citizen awareness about Aadhaar services
  • Promote responsible adoption
  • Strengthen clear, simple, and citizen-centric communication
