United Nations Troop Contributing Countries’ (UNTCC) Chiefs Conclave 2025

The United Nations Troop Contributing Countries’ (UNTCC) Chiefs Conclave 2025 was held in India on 14-16 October 2025 at Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi.

  • Key Address: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh proposed the ‘4C Formula’ — Consultation, Cooperation, Coordination, and Capacity Building — as a guiding principle for United Nations peacekeeping operations.

Objective:

  • To enhance the effectiveness and adaptability of UN peacekeeping missions amid emerging global challenges.

India’s Contribution to UN Peacekeeping:

  • Over 2,90,000 Indian personnel have served in more than 50 UN missions, including Congo, Korea, South Sudan, and Lebanon.
  • India continues to offer troops, share expertise, and support UN reforms to make operations more efficient.

Women in Peacekeeping:

  • Highlighted India’s all-women Formed Police Unit, deployed to Liberia in 2007, as a global symbol of empowerment.
  • Indian women officers currently serve in Africa and the Middle East.
  • In 2024, Major Radhika Sen received the UN Military Gender Advocate of the Year Award for her service in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

About the Conclave:

  • A three-day event, hosted by the Indian Army.
  • Attended by senior military leaders from 32 troop-contributing nations and senior UN officials.

Significance:

  • Reinforces India’s leadership role and commitment to global peacekeeping.
  • Emphasises inclusive participation, capacity building, and strategic coordination among UN member states.
