Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan

Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan on May 29 launched the ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ from Sakhigopal of Puri district, Odisha.

Objective:

To transform Indian agriculture and secure the nation’s food future through scientific innovation and grassroots engagement.

Key Features:

Two-Way Communication:

  • Scientists → Farmers: Sharing of research insights, technical knowledge, and location-specific guidance.
  • Farmers → Scientists: Gathering on-ground challenges, feedback, and data to inform future research and policy.

Lab to Land Approach:

  • Bridging the gap between agricultural research and on-ground implementation.
  • Scientists from ICAR and Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) will directly engage with farmers at the village level.

Massive Scientist Involvement:

  • Over 16,000 agricultural scientists from ICAR are ready to participate.
  • Scientists will visit every village, offer tailored advice based on local natural and geographical conditions, and gather farmer feedback.

Expected Outcomes:

  • Accelerated crop production through improved practices.
  • Farmer-centric research based on real-world issues.
  • Enhanced scientist-farmer collaboration to drive prosperity in the agriculture sector.

Call to Action:

The Union Agriculture Minister urged all farmers to actively join the campaign and become key participants in shaping a Viksit Krishi (Developed Agriculture) future for India.
