World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026

Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi has said that India’s energy transition has been consciously designed as a driver of industrialisation, job creation and global competitiveness, offering a replicable model for emerging economies.

He was addressing a high-level session titled “Energy: The Great Funding Gap” at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos, Switzerland.

Energy Transition as a Development Movement

The minister highlighted that India has successfully transformed clean energy from being merely a climate obligation into a people-centric development movement. He underlined that India’s approach integrates economic growth, employment generation, and sustainability rather than treating energy transition as a standalone environmental goal.
