Yakten: India’s first digital nomad village

Yakten, a village in Sikkim’s Pakyong district, was officially declared India’s first digital nomad village on July 14, 2025.

To facilitate its new role as a digital nomad village, the district authorities have implemented crucial infrastructure upgrades in Yakten:

  • Internet Connectivity: Two internet lines have been installed, ensuring village-wide Wi-Fi connectivity.
  • Power Backup: Inverters have been provided to maintain uninterrupted electricity supply.
