ZAPAD 2025

An Indian Armed Forces contingent has departed to participate in the multilateral joint military exercise ZAPAD 2025, being hosted in Russia.

Venue and Schedule

The exercise will be held at the Mulino Training Ground in Nizhniy from September 10 to 16, 2025. The seven-day exercise will bring together multiple nations to strengthen security cooperation.

Objectives of the Exercise

ZAPAD 2025 is designed to:

• Enhance military cooperation among participating countries
• Improve interoperability between forces
• Serve as a platform to exchange tactics, techniques, and procedures in conventional warfare and counter-terrorism operations

Indian Contingent Details

The Indian Army contingent is being led by a battalion of the KUMAON Regiment, supported by troops from other arms and services. In total, the contingent comprises:

• 57 personnel from the Indian Army
• 7 personnel from the Indian Air Force
• 1 personnel from the Indian Navy
