Why in News?
The 11th Ayurveda Day was celebrated across India and internationally on 23 September 2026 under the theme “Ayurveda for a Healthier Tomorrow”. More than 22,000 activities were reported through the official Ayurveda Day digital platform, with participation from over 38 countries, including the UK, USA, China, Japan, Finland, Afghanistan, Ghana, New Zealand, Russia, Georgia and Albania.
About Ayurveda Day
Ayurveda Day is observed annually to promote Ayurveda as a scientific, evidence-based and holistic system of medicine, with emphasis on preventive healthcare, wellness and healthy living.
Earlier, Ayurveda Day was observed on Dhanteras, whose date varies each year according to the Hindu lunar calendar. To provide a fixed annual date for the observance, the Government of India designated 23 September as Ayurveda Day every year in 2025.
