39th Surajkund International Atmanirbhar Crafts Mela Inaugurated

The Vice-President of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, on January 31 inaugurated the 39th Surajkund International Atmanirbhar Crafts Mela at Surajkund, Faridabad, Haryana.

The internationally acclaimed fair brings together artisans, craftspeople and cultural practitioners from India and abroad, celebrating the country’s rich artistic heritage and reinforcing the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat through traditional crafts, handlooms and folk art.

Referring to the theme States—Uttar Pradesh and Meghalaya, the Vice-President said that the two States beautifully reflect India’s unity in diversity, showcasing distinct cultural traditions from different regions of the country on a common platform.

The Vice-President also warmly welcomed Egypt, the partner country for this year’s Mela, noting that Egypt’s ancient civilisation, artistic traditions and cultural depth resonate strongly with India’s own historical and cultural journey.

The Surajkund Mela continues to serve as a major platform for cultural exchange, promotion of traditional crafts, and livelihood support for artisans, while enhancing India’s soft power globally.
