Aromatic Kali Khasa, Aromatic Harinarayan, Biron and Maimi Hanga Rice

Why in News?
An 18-metric-tonne consignment of four NPOP-certified ethnic rice varieties from Tripura was flagged off on September 2, 2026, for export to Austria and the Netherlands, with facilitation by APEDA.

Rice varieties

• Export quantity: 18 metric tonnes.
• Destination: Austria and the Netherlands.
• Certification: NPOP (National Programme for Organic Production) certification.
• Rice varieties:
  1. Aromatic Kali Khasa Rice
  2. Aromatic Harinarayan Rice
  3. Biron Rice – white sticky rice
  4. Maimi Hanga Rice – black rice
• Rice was aggregated from Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) supported by the Tripura State Organic Farming Development Agency (TSOFDA).
• Exporter: Pratithi Organic Foods, Sonepat.
• Facilitator: Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).

Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet (RBSM)

• An RBSM is a trade-promotion mechanism in which international and domestic corporate buyers are brought together with local producers/exporters.
• APEDA organised an RBSM in Tripura, helping establish market linkages and export opportunities for local producers.
