Why in News?
A three-day Table Top Exercise (TTX) conducted under the aegis of the Colombo Security Conclave (CSC) successfully concluded on 11 September 2026 at the Eastern Naval Command (ENC), Visakhapatnam. The exercise commenced on 9 September and brought together maritime security experts from CSC member states and observer nations to strengthen cooperation against emerging maritime security threats.
About the Table Top Exercise
The exercise involved simulated operational scenarios over more than 72 hours, focusing on complex non-traditional maritime security challenges such as maritime terrorism, narcotics smuggling, human trafficking and illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
Participants reviewed existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and worked towards streamlining information-sharing mechanisms to strengthen collective Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA).
About Colombo Security Conclave
The Colombo Security Conclave (CSC) was launched in 2011 as an informal trilateral dialogue on maritime security among India, Sri Lanka and the Maldives. It has subsequently evolved into a broader regional security platform.
The CSC currently has six full members: India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Mauritius, Bangladesh and Seychelles.
