The Central Government on December 28, 2020 launched the dry run for vaccination drive in four states — Punjab, Assam, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat.
- The dry run was launched in the anticipation of the coronavirus immunisation drive.
What is Dry Run for vaccination?
- Dry Run for vaccination is a mock drill. No vaccine is involved in the process and it only checks the feasibility of the plan which involves real-time monitoring through Co-WIN app.
- Data is fed to Co-WIN app, cold storage is tested, the transport of vaccines from cold storage to the sites, crowd management at sites are also checked.
- The aim of the exercise is to identify challenges and make required changes in the plan so that the final process becomes foolproof.
- CoWIN is an application that has been designed to make identification of vaccine beneficiaries based on priority easier, while also helping in the vaccination drive’s planning, implementation as well as its reporting mechanism.
