Why in News?
The Sarang Helicopter Display Team of the Indian Air Force (IAF) has reached Egypt to participate in the 2nd edition of the El Alamein International Airshow, scheduled from 8 to 10 September 2026 at El Alamein International Airport. The participation is aimed at showcasing India’s indigenous aviation capabilities and strengthening defence and aerospace cooperation with Egypt and other international air forces.
About Sarang Helicopter Display Team
The Sarang team is the Indian Air Force’s helicopter aerobatics display team and is known as the world’s only five-helicopter display team. It flies the indigenously designed and manufactured Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv and is renowned for precision formation flying, close-proximity manoeuvres and synchronised aerial sequences.
During the El Alamein Airshow, the team will showcase its famous “Dolphin Leap” manoeuvre and a new manoeuvre called the “Spot Stall Turn”. Its participation highlights India’s growing indigenous aerospace capabilities while providing an opportunity to strengthen professional and operational ties between the IAF and international air forces.
