The first edition of Inland Waterways Development Council (IWDC) meeting took place on the MV Ganges Queen vessel at the Kolkata Dock Complex.
- The Inland Waterways Development Council was conceived with an objective rejuvenate our rich, complex and dynamic waterways. During the meeting “Harit Nauka – Guidelines for Green Transition of Inland Vessels” and the “River Cruise Tourism Roadmap 2047,” were also unveiled.
- The IWDC was organised by the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI), the nodal agency for inland waterways in India, under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Government of India.
- The Inland Waterways Development Council was established in October 2023.
