Global Report on Food Crises 2026

The Global Report on Food Crises 2026, released by the Global Network Against Food Crises, highlights that acute food insecurity and malnutrition remain alarmingly high worldwide.

The report, in its 10th edition, notes that acute hunger has doubled over the past decade, indicating a worsening global food crisis.

It also reports that famine was confirmed in 2025 in parts of the Gaza Strip and Sudan, marking the first time two famines were declared simultaneously since global monitoring began.

According to the report, acute food insecurity is heavily concentrated in ten countries, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Myanmar, Nigeria, Pakistan, South Sudan, Sudan, Syrian Arab Republic, and Yemen.

Among these, Afghanistan, South Sudan, Sudan, and Yemen are the worst affected, facing the most severe food crises in terms of both population share and total numbers.
