Govt to set up 700 SHE-MARTs, 1,000 district fulfilment centres to boost ‘Lakhpati Didis’

The Government of India will set up 700 SHE-MARTs and 1,000 district fulfilment centres to improve market access for women-led enterprises.

  • The initiative aims to support the target of creating six crore “Lakhpati Didis” across the country.
  • It is being implemented under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana–National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM).
  • DAY-NRLM focuses on:
    • Enterprise promotion
    • Financial inclusion
    • Capacity building
    • Marketing support for members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs)
  • The proposed SHE-MARTs will be established in high-potential commercial locations with strong backward and forward linkages to provide sustainable market access for SHG products.
  • The district fulfilment centres and Centres of Excellence will strengthen:
    • Logistics
    • Branding
    • Distribution networks for rural women entrepreneurs
  • The initiative also seeks to build a unified national marketing identity under Saras Aajeevika.
  • “Saras Aajeevika” aims to consolidate fragmented SHG branding into a single national platform to enhance product visibility, market positioning, and consumer recognition.
