India and Indonesia Conduct ‘Samudra Shakti – 2025’ Maritime Exercise

The Indian Navy successfully hosted the fifth edition of the Indo-Indonesian Joint Bilateral Maritime Exercise, ‘Samudra Shakti – 2025’, which concluded on October 17. The exercise is a symbol of growing naval cooperation between the two maritime neighbours.

Participating Naval Units
The Indian side was represented by INS Kavaratti, an Anti-Submarine Warfare Corvette of the Eastern Fleet under the Eastern Naval Command (ENC). The Indonesian Navy participated with KRI John Lie, a Corvette equipped with an integral helicopter.

Harbour Phase Activities
The harbour phase featured a range of activities designed to foster camaraderie and professional interaction, including cross-deck visits, joint yoga sessions, friendly sports fixtures, and Professional Subject Matter Expert Exchanges (SMEE).

Sea Phase Operations
During the sea phase, both navies conducted dynamic and complex maritime operations aimed at enhancing tactical coordination and operational synergy.

Strengthening Maritime Cooperation
Samudra Shakti serves as a key bilateral engagement to enhance interoperability, strengthen mutual understanding, and share best practices between the Indian and Indonesian navies.

Commitment to Indo-Pacific Stability
The exercise underscores the shared commitment of India and Indonesia to maintaining peace, stability, and security in the Indo-Pacific region, reinforcing their roles as key maritime partners.
