Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) introduces new green rating tools

Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) has introduced new green rating tools as part of its Net Zero mission to accelerate the uptake of green building projects in the country.

  • IGBC is established by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in 2001 to actively promote the Green Building concept in India.
  • The new green rating tools of IGBC were launched at the Indian Green Building Congress, held in Chennai between November 23-25, 2023.
  • They include Net Zero Carbon Rating and upgraded rating systems – Green Existing Building Rating Version 1.0, Green Factory Rating Version 2.0, and Green Campus Rating Version 1.0.
  • The building and construction sector in India accounted for nearly one-third of the total GHG emissions inventory covering both operational and embodied emissions in 2021.
  • Vijayawada Railway Station has been given Platinum Certification- The Highest Standard IGBC (Indian Green Building Council) Rating at Green Building Congress held at Chennai Trade Centre.
  • Senior officers of the Railways received the certification for Vijayawada Railway Station.
