India’s 61st Software Technology Park inaugurated in Nagaland

Union Minister of State (MoS) for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar on September 17, 2021 inaugurated Nagaland’s first and India’s 61st Software Technology Park of India (STPI) in Kohima at the Directorate of Information Technology & Communication (DITC).

  • The state-of-the-art STPI centre, covering 18,137 sq ft, in Kohima is envisaging to host as a Centre of Entrepreneurship in IT Applications in Graphic Design, where start-ups, students and innovators can utilize the facility for research and development of new innovative solutions.

What are Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) ?

  • Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) is a premier S&T organization under Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
  • STPI is establishing CoEs/Technology incubators for building India’s leadership in the above mentioned technology areas across the country in a collaborative manner.
  • Since its inception in 1991, STPI has been working towards equitable and inclusive IT-led growth pan-India which in turn has helped promoting Software exports, Science, Technology & Innovation (STI) and Software product development.
  • The first Software Technology Park of India was set up in Bangalore, Karnataka (STPI-B) in 1990.
