India’s first quantum computing test beds to be set up in Amaravati

India’s first-ever Quantum Hardware Testbeds—designated as Bharat Quantum Reference Facilities (BQRF)—are set to be inaugurated on April 14, marking World Quantum Day.

Inauguration by Chief Minister
The facilities will be officially launched by N. Chandrababu Naidu, highlighting the state’s push to become a hub for advanced technologies.

Two Indigenous Quantum Computers Installed
The initiative includes the installation of two compact, indigenously developed quantum computers—one at SRM University in Amaravati and another at Medha Towers in Vijayawada. These systems represent a significant milestone in India’s journey toward self-reliance in cutting-edge computing technologies.

Developed by Startup Qubit Force
The quantum systems have been designed by Qubit Force, a startup formed under the ambitious “Quantum Valley” initiative. The team comprises leading domestic and international experts in quantum science and engineering.

Collaborative Indigenous Manufacturing
Key hardware components for these quantum systems were manufactured through collaboration between major public-sector defence and scientific research organisations, along with private enterprises—demonstrating a strong ecosystem approach.

Rapid Development Under ‘Quantum Valley’ Vision
The concept of Amaravati Quantum Valley was first proposed in August 2025. Impressively, within just eight months, two fully functional quantum reference facilities have been established, underscoring rapid progress in the sector.
