India’s first telecom system with indigenous chips gets TEC certification

In a breakthrough for India’s semiconductor ambitions, a telecom system powered by domestically manufactured chips has received the prestigious TEC (Telecommunication Engineering Center) certification. The certification was issued by TEC, the nodal agency under the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Ministry of Communications.

Assurance of Quality and Performance

The TEC certification confirms that the telecom system has met stringent quality, security, and performance standards. This recognition is crucial for the deployment of indigenous telecom equipment in both domestic and international markets.

Boost to ‘Make in India’ and Self-Reliance

The development marks a significant step in India’s quest for technological self-reliance, aligned with the ‘Make in India’ initiative. It demonstrates the country’s growing competence in semiconductor design and fabrication, an area identified as strategically vital for national security and economic growth.

Positioning India in the Global Ecosystem

This milestone positions India as a credible player in the global telecom and electronics ecosystem, strengthening its role in supply chain diversification at a time when semiconductor dependence has become a global concern.
