Veteran Nepali mountaineer Kami Rita Sherpa has created history by scaling Mount Everest for a record 32nd time, further extending his own world record for the highest number of ascents of the world’s tallest peak.

The 56-year-old climber reached the summit during the ongoing spring climbing season, marking another milestone in his illustrious mountaineering career. Born in the Solukhumbu district of Nepal’s Koshi Province, Kami Rita began working in the mountaineering sector in 1992 and successfully climbed Everest for the first time in 1994.

He had completed his 31st ascent of Mount Everest on May 27 last year and has now surpassed that feat with his latest successful expedition.

Meanwhile, renowned Nepali climber Lhakpa Sherpa, popularly known as the “Mountain Queen,” also extended her own record as the first Nepali woman to summit Mount Everest the highest number of times. She achieved her 11th successful ascent of the peak during the current climbing season.

The achievements of Kami Rita and Lhakpa Sherpa once again highlight Nepal’s enduring legacy in high-altitude mountaineering and the extraordinary contribution of the Sherpa community to Himalayan expeditions.
