Delhi Police is likely to approach the Union home ministry and subsequently the court on sending a Letter Rogatory (LR) to Russia seeking details of the email ID from where the message about bomb threats were sent to several schools in Delhi-NCR on 1st May.
- Police have already requested Interpol through CBI for assistance in the probe.
Letters Rogatory
- Letters Rogatory are the letters of request sent by the Court of one country to the Court of another country for obtaining assistance in investigation or prosecution of a criminal matter.
- Section 166A of the Criminal Procedure Code, 1973 lays down the procedure of sending Letter Rogatory through a competent Court.
- No request for issue of a Letter Rogatory shall be brought by IO without the prior concurrence of the Central Authority i.e., Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
