Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 26, 2026, announced the constitution of a high-powered task force on examination reforms under the leadership of technology expert and Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani.
The multidisciplinary task force has been constituted to suggest structural reforms and greater integration of technology in examinations conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
The task force will comprise:
- Nandan Nilekani – Technology expert and Infosys co-founder
- S. Somnath – Former Chairman of ISRO
- Tapan Deka – Former Director of the Intelligence Bureau
- V. Kamakoti – Director of IIT Madras
- Anita Karwal – Former Education Secretary
- Amrit Lal Meena – Logistics expert
The panel has been tasked with recommending systemic and structural reforms to improve the examination process.
It will also examine ways to promote greater use of technology in examinations conducted by the NTA.
Prime Minister Modi said the recommendations of the task force would be used to strengthen the credibility of upcoming examinations through technological interventions and systemic reforms.
The task force is expected to recommend measures aimed at restoring public confidence in India’s examination system.
The constitution of the task force reflects the government’s focus on improving examination integrity, transparency, reliability and technological resilience.
Meanwhile, Pralhad Joshi assumed additional charge as the Union Education Minister on July 26, 2026.
