Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred the “Guardian of the Blue Horizon”, the highest national distinction of Seychelles for leadership in environmental conservation and sustainable development.
The award was presented by Patrick Herminie during Prime Minister Modi’s state visit to Seychelles.
Key Points
The award was conferred in recognition of PM Modi’s green leadership, efforts to advance the interests of developing countries, and commitment to the Blue Economy, climate action, sustainable management of ocean resources, and the development priorities of Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
This is the first time that the Guardian of the Blue Horizon distinction has been awarded.
The honour adds to several international recognitions received by Prime Minister Modi for promoting sustainable development and environmental stewardship. These include the Agricola Medal, the Seoul Peace Prize, and the Champions of the Earth.
