Project Nimbus

Project Nimbus came into the spotlight after protests during a speech by Sundar Pichai at Stanford University.

It is a US$1.2 billion cloud computing and Artificial Intelligence (AI) contract jointly awarded to Google and Amazon.

The project provides cloud infrastructure and AI services to agencies of the Israel government.

Critics, including activists and some employees, argue that the technology could support Israeli military operations during the Gaza conflict and raise concerns over its humanitarian implications.

Google has maintained that Project Nimbus is intended to provide standard government cloud services and has defended its participation in the contract.

The controversy has intensified debates over the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence, corporate responsibility, and technology’s role in armed conflicts.
