69th Republic Day was celebrated across India on 26 January, 2018. Main celebration took place at Rajpath where India showcased its military might as well the cultural diversity. First time ten head of the states or their representatives of ASEAN member countries became the chief guests at the Republic day. Indian states as well as government departments showcased their identity and achievements through tableau at the Rajpath. Out of the total 23 tableaux , 14 were from the States and Union Territories. Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman gave away the awards at Cariappa Parade Ground in Delhi Cantonment on January 27, 2018. Here are the winners of 69th Republic Day Parade:
- .Best marching contingent among the three services: Punjab Regiment
- Best marching contingent among among the paramilitary and other auxiliary forces: Indo-Tibetan Border Police
- Best Tableau: Maharashtra (depicting the coronation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj)
- Second Best Tableau: Assam (traditional masks and sastras)
- Third Best Tableau: Chhattisgarh (Ramgarh’s ancient amphitheatre and artistes performing dance based on Kalidasa’s Meghadootam)
- Best Tableaux by Union Ministries and departments: Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry (Khelo India)
- Students’ category best performance: The South Central Zone Cultural Centre from Nagpur (performing Baredi dance of Madhya Pradesh)
