The Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi organised an event titled ‘Six Yards of India – The Saree Story’ in collaboration with the General Women’s Union (GWU) and the Diplomatic Group for Spouses of Ambassadors at the GWU headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
The event showcased India’s rich textile heritage and the cultural diversity reflected in its traditional sarees, bringing together Indian craftsmanship, fashion and art.
The event highlighted the diversity of India’s traditional weaves, including Banarasi silk, Kanchipuram silk, Mysore silk, Kerala Kasavu, Bandhani, Kalamkari, Bengal’s Tant Saree as well as regional draping styles like Nauvari.
