Australia lift Women’s World T-20 title for fourth time

  • Australia has lifted the Women’s World Twenty-20 title for the fourth time.
  • In the final match played at Antigua on November 24, the Aussies recorded an emphatic 8-wicket win over England to win their first world title since 2014. 
  • Australia, first, bundled out England for just 105, with Ashleigh Gardner scalping 3 wickets, and Megan Schutt and Georgia Wareham bagging two each. Then with the bat, Australia overhauled the target in just 15.1 overs and 8 wickets in hand. Gardner top scored with an unbeaten 33, while captain Meg Lanning made 28 not out. 
  • Gardner was named player of the match for her all-round performance. Another Aussie Alyssa Healy was adjudged player of the series.
  • India had lost in the semi-finals against England by 8 wickets
