Suryastra-India’s first 300-km Universal Rocket Launching System

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh recently inaugurated a private-sector defence manufacturing complex in Shirdi and flagged off India’s first 300-km Universal Rocket Launching System, Suryastra.

What is Suryastra?

Suryastra is India’s first indigenous Universal Rocket Launching System with a strike range of about 300 km, developed to strengthen India’s advanced artillery and missile capabilities.

Key Features

  • The defence manufacturing complex has been developed by NIBE Limited.
  • The facility will focus on advanced artillery systems, missile and space technologies, rocket systems, energetic materials, and autonomous defence platforms.
  • The project aims to strengthen India’s indigenous defence manufacturing ecosystem.
  • It is expected to create opportunities for MSMEs, ancillary industries, suppliers, and vendors.
  • The initiative will also promote employment generation and technological skill development among youth.

  • Positive Indigenisation Lists,
