Swadeshi Microprocessor Challenge

Electronics and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on August 18, 2020 launched Swadeshi Microprocessor Challenge – Innovate Solutions for Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

Salient Features

IIT Madras and Center for Development of Advance Computing have developed two microprocessors named SHAKTI (32 bit) and VEGA (64 bit) respectively using Open Source Architecture.

The Swadeshi Microprocessor Challenge seeks to invite innovators, startups and students to use these microprocessors to develop various technology products.

The Swadeshi Microprocessor Challenge is part of the series of proactive, pre-emptive and graded measures taken by Ministry of Electronics and IT to spur the technology led innovation ecosystem in the country.

The Challenge spread over 10 months, started on August 18 with the registration process at MyGov portal. It will culminate in June 2021.

There is an opportunity for 100 semi-finalists to win award of one crore rupees and for 25 finalists to win one crore rupees. While top 10 teams entering the finale, will get the seed fund of two crore 30 lakh rupees and 12 months incubation support.
