About Travel & Tourism Development Index

The TTDI measures how well economies are positioned to support the development of travel and tourism. It was first launched in 2007 as the Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index and was relaunched in its present form in 2022. The index is produced by the World Economic Forum in collaboration with Zurich Insurance Group and is published biennially.

The index provides comparable evidence to governments, businesses and destination leaders to assess the conditions and policies required for sustainable tourism growth, resilience to disruptions and broader economic development.
