World Sanskrit Day 2020

First ever Special Programme in Sanskrit to mark World Sanskrit Day to be broadcast by All India Radio on August 3, 2020. The 20-Minute Program titled “Bahujan Bhasha-Sanskrit Bhasha” will be broadcast on 100.1 FM – AIR News Live 24×7 FM Channel.

Basic Facts

Highlights from the films- Priyamanasam & PunyaKoti in Sanskrit and interviews with the editors of the world’s only Sanskrit daily newspaper, Sudharma are among the major attractions.

Under Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat segment, the program features translation of five commonly used words in Sanskrit, Hindi and Gujarati. The special edition by All India Radio is expected to give a fillip to the outreach of Sanskrit language among the people.

About World Sanskrit Day

The Day is aimed at promoting and reviving the ancient Indian language of Sanskrit.

It is celebrated on Sravana Poornima every year, that is the Poornima day of Sravana month in the Hindu calendar.

Sanskrit has been known as the primary language of Hinduism and forms the basis of several other languages.

The day is marked by various seminars and events talking about the importance of the Sanskrit language. Sanskrit Day was first celebrated in 1969.
