48th WorldSkills Competition, Shanghai 2026,

Why in News?

India secured 10th position at the 48th WorldSkills Competition, Shanghai 2026, winning 6 Silver Medals and 20 Medals for Excellence. India improved upon its 13th-place finish at WorldSkills Lyon 2024, where it had won four Bronze Medals and 12 Medals for Excellence. The six-day competition was held from 22–27 September 2026 in Shanghai, China, and brought together more than 1,400 young competitors from around 70 countries and regions.

About WorldSkills Competition

The WorldSkills Competition is an international skills competition that brings together young professionals from different countries to demonstrate excellence in vocational and technical skills. It provides a global platform for benchmarking skills, promoting vocational education and training, and encouraging young people to pursue skill-based careers.

India participated with its largest-ever contingent of 70 competitors, competing across 63 skills covering emerging technologies, advanced manufacturing, engineering, creative industries and specialised services. India’s improved performance at Shanghai 2026 highlights the growing participation of Indian skilled youth in international skills competitions.
