Cabinet approves additional investment commitment of Rs. 30,000 crore in National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF)

The Union Cabinet recently approved an additional Government of India’s investment commitment of Rs. 30,000 crore towards new and upcoming funds of the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund. This takes the Government of India’s total commitment to NIIF to Rs. 60,000 crore

About National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF)

  • National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) is India’s Sovereign Anchored Fund, professionally run and managed by National Investment and Infrastructure Fund Limited (NIIFL).
  • NIIF was registered as a Category II Alternate Investment Funds (AIF) under SEBI Regulations.
  • GoI Shareholding: 49% (maintaining its status as a government-anchored but professionally independent entity managed by NIIFL).
  • Total Current Capital Commitments: Approximately ₹40,000 crore (prior to the deployment of this new commitment).
  • Investor Profile: Marquee global and domestic institutions, including Sovereign Wealth Funds, Pension Funds, Multilateral Development Banks, and premier Indian financial institutions.
