ASEAN–India Maritime Exercise (AIME-2026)

Why in News?

The second edition of the ASEAN–India Maritime Exercise (AIME-2026) commenced at Subic Bay, Philippines, on 28 September 2026. Indian Naval Ships Sahyadri and Kulish are participating along with maritime forces from ASEAN Member States. The exercise is being conducted under the theme “Anchored in Trust, United at Sea.”

About AIME-2026

AIME-2026 brings together maritime forces of India and ASEAN countries to enhance mutual understanding, cooperation and interoperability through professional, operational and social engagements. The participation of INS Sahyadri and INS Kulish reflects the Indian Navy’s engagement with ASEAN maritime forces and its emphasis on practical maritime cooperation.

The exercise is being conducted in two phases. The Harbour Phase includes professional, operational and social interactions among participating forces. It will be followed by the Sea Phase, during which the participating maritime forces will undertake coordinated maritime exercises and operational serials.
