Asian Lacrosse Games 2026

Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya felicitated the Indian men’s and women’s lacrosse teams for their outstanding performance at the Asian Lacrosse Games held in Riyadh. Both teams clinched gold medals in their respective Sixes events, marking a significant milestone for the sport in India.

Praising the athletes, Mandaviya encouraged them to maintain their momentum and aim for qualification in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, where lacrosse is set to make a comeback.

India delivered a dominant display throughout the tournament. The men’s team secured victory against Iraq in the final, while the women’s team triumphed over Pakistan to claim the शीर्ष honours.

The Asian Lacrosse Games, organized by the Asia-Pacific Lacrosse Union, are part of broader efforts to strengthen the sport’s presence in Asia ahead of its Olympic inclusion.

Lacrosse, a fast-paced team sport with origins in Indigenous North American traditions, involves players using sticks with netted heads to pass, carry, and shoot a rubber ball into the opponent’s goal.
